Humility Is the Way: Choosing God Over Comfort in Everyday Decisions

There’s this moment—we all know it—where you’re sitting there, and you know what God is asking you to do.

And you don’t want to do it.

It’s not dramatic. There’s no lightning bolt. No big audience. It’s just you… wrestling with yourself.

“Do I choose what feels good right now… or do I choose God?”

And, sometimes we act like Eve did—she didn’t exactly pause, pray, and seek wise counsel, did she? She saw, she wanted, she took.

Light. Casual. Quick.

And yet… that’s how most of our decisions happen too.

Not in some huge rebellious moment—but in small, everyday choices:

  • Do I honor God with my body or give in again?

  • Do I speak with grace or say what I feel like saying?

  • Do I choose discipline or comfort?

Humility is choosing God’s way over your own—even when your feelings are loud.

Scripture reminds us:

“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” (James 4:6)

Pride says, “I know better.”Humility says, “God, You know better—even when I don’t like it.”

And let me tell you—this is where the real fight is.

Not in the gym. Not in the meal plan. Not in the number on the scale.

The real fight is in that quiet moment where no one sees…and you decide who you’re going to follow.

I’ve lived this out in my own life. I wanted God’s way and my way.Spoiler: that doesn’t work.

There are days I did everything “right” and didn’t see results. But God kept reminding me—this isn’t about outcomes. It’s about obedience.

Because His ways? They’re higher. They’re better. They’re good—even when they’re uncomfortable.

So today, if you’re sitting in that wrestle…

Choose humility.

Choose the slower decision. Choose the harder obedience. Choose God.

Even if it feels small. Even if no one claps. Even if it’s just you sitting there saying,“Okay God… I’ll do it Your way.”

That’s the win.
