Goodness Breeds Goodness
Sometimes we do the right things… and the results we expected never show up.
You track your food. You move your body. You try to steward the body God gave you.
And the scale doesn’t budge. The mile time doesn’t improve. The vanity metrics just sit there like they’re personally offended by your effort.
It’s tempting to think: What’s the point?
But Scripture gently reminds us that doing good is never pointless.
“Let us not grow weary of doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
Notice what it doesn’t say.
It doesn’t say we’ll reap the exact result we were hoping for.It doesn’t promise the scale will move or that success will look the way we imagined.
But it does say that doing good produces a harvest.
Why? Because goodness comes from God Himself.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” — James 1:17
When we walk in God’s ways, we’re not just checking off a box on our to-do list. We’re stepping into something deeper. We’re stepping into His goodness.
When we practice stewardship—eating moderately, moving our bodies, choosing discipline—we aren’t earning approval or chasing vanity goals. We’re simply aligning ourselves with the way God designed life to work.
And His way is always good.
Sometimes the harvest looks like better health .Sometimes it looks like peace with food. Sometimes it looks like perseverance and character growing inside us.
But the real gift is this: when we follow God’s ways, we welcome His goodness into our lives.
Not because we earned it. But because His ways are good, and His ways are best. So if you’re doing the right things today and the results aren’t showing up yet, take heart.
You’re not wasting your effort.
You’re walking in obedience.
And that is always worth it.
